Giridhari is a special form of Lord Krishna known for lifting the Govardhan Hill.

The name Giridhari means “the one who holds a mountain.” According to Hindu stories, the people of Vrindavan used to worship Lord Indra, the rain god. Krishna told them to worship Govardhan Hill and nature instead. Angry Indra sent heavy rain and storms to destroy the village. To protect everyone, Krishna lifted Govardhan Hill on his little finger and held it like an umbrella for seven days.

Giridhari shows Krishna’s divine power and love for his devotees. This form teaches faith, courage, and the importance of respecting nature.
