Jagannath
Jagannath is a holy form of Lord Krishna known as the Lord of the Universe.
The word Jagannath means “Lord of the world.” This form of Krishna is mainly worshipped in the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha. The idol of Jagannath is made of wood and has big round eyes and a unique shape. He is worshipped together with his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra.
Every year, the famous Rath Yatra (chariot festival) is celebrated, where the idols are taken in big chariots and thousands of devotees join the festival. Jagannath represents love, unity, and equality. This form teaches that God cares for all people and welcomes everyone.
